Stop Letting AI Erase Your Brand

THE PROBLEM?
Everyone’s posts look the same:
The same format
The same layout
The same icons
The same colors
The same fonts
*I see so many posts using the same colors, layouts, decorative lines between icons, etc. It screams AI. And not in a good way.
The unmistakable AI-written content:
The overuse of em-dashes
It’s not about Y, it’s about X (the constant need to compare) and to give a solution
The rule of 3. Obsessing over giving 3 ideas into one group to help drive home a point
When everything feels familiar, nothing feels memorable.
AI NEEDS CUSTOMIZATION
A common mistake people make is writing prompts into AI asking, “write me a post about X”, or “mock up an image for me of Y”.
Not only does this diminish your own brand voice, but you create confusion for your audience. It strikes the question: what does this brand stand for?
Important details to remember for your brand identity post AI-made content:
Use your brand colors
Use your brand fonts
Change/edit the text to match your brand voice. This is especially important so your brand feels consistent
Change icons/visuals/layouts to represent your brand. AI can lean very tech heavy
AI SHOULD BE AN ASSISTANT
AI should NOT be your creative director. You should have an easy-to-reference moodboard or brand kit that you stick to. These are helpful when you feel stuck on inspiration, overwhelmed with design direction or need help honing in on your brand’s voice.
AI Can Help With:
Brainstorming
Drafting captions
Concept ideas
But YOU Need to Decide:
Your brand message/tone of voice
Fonts
Colors
Layout
Overall aesthetic
IF YOU'RE RELYING ON AI...
Then you probably need to get clear on your message.
Here are some areas to start brainstorming:
Start with your goal. Ask yourself what you want your brand to actually do for you. Not in a vague, big-picture way. In a real, specific way. For example: “I want to be fully booked every week with clients who trust me and don't fight me on price.”
Know who you’re talking to. Describe your dream client. Your brand cannot speak to everyone. And honestly? It shouldn't.
Write down your promise. They're short, specific, and say who they serve and what they do for them. MOB’s is “To inspire greatness through empowering education and world-class products.”
Write down accounts that inspire you. It can be anything from hair, clothing and/or lifestyle and beyond. Make a note of why you’re drawn to them.
Choose your overall aesthetic. Font choices, and brand colors.
When choosing a font:
One font with personality (your display/header font)
One font that's easy to read at small sizes (your body font)
Enough contrast that they don't compete
A feeling that matches your brand, which could mean playful, polished, editorial, or warm, etc.
When choosing colors:
One dark anchor: your deepest, richest shade. Used for text, headers, or bold moments
One medium: the color that carries the most personality. Usually your most “branded” shade
One neutral: something that gives the eye a place to rest. Often a warm or cool tone that bridges the others
One light: almost a background color. Airy, soft, spacious
Black and white also help as they’re a classic pair
Take all of these elements to create a brand kit
Your color palette (with color codes)
Your fonts
Your logo
Any textures or patterns you use consistently
FINAL THOUGHT
Your brand doesn’t have to be perfect. It has to be consistent.
